EE Presents “The Magic Line: Drawing A Future Without Cystic Fibrosis”
A Virtual Event, Emily Entourage’s 6th Annual EENY Program Raises Critical Funds for Cystic Fibrosis Research
New York, NY — Emily’s Entourage (EE), an innovative 501(c)3 foundation that has raised millions of dollars since 2011 to speed research and drug development for Cystic Fibrosis (CF), is proud to announce a virtual event, “The Magic Line: Drawing A Future Without Cystic Fibrosis” on Wednesday, May 19 at 8pm ET.
The event is hosted by writer, producer, actress, investor, and fashion brand founder Erin Foster and will include an interview with EE co-founder Emily Kramer-Golinkoff and ABC News Chief, Business, Technology & Economics correspondent, Rebecca Jarvis. The event also features voices from the CF community, celebrity cameos, and musical performances by David Shaw of the The Revivalists, Brianna Collichio, Luvrs, and more.
The annual event is presented by EENY, a collection of young, professional New Yorkers fueling EE’s mission to speed life-saving new treatments and a cure for those with rare nonsense mutations of CF who do not benefit from available targeted therapies. This year’s theme, Drawing A Future Without CF, builds on EE’s “The Magic Line” campaign and takes inspiration from the popular children’s book, “Harold and the Purple Crayon.” Harold’s purple crayon allowed him to draw anything his imagination would allow. The event theme reminds us of our own power to create the world we dream of—a world without CF.
“There are revolutionary new targeted treatments available for 90% of the CF population. Unfortunately, those with rare nonsense mutations of CF fall in the outlying 10% that do not benefit from these new treatments. At EE, we believe that everyone with CF deserves realistic hope for a future and deep breath, and it is up to us to get there. That is why we are laser focused on speeding life-saving breakthroughs and a cure for the final 10% of the CF community, so we can create the future we dream of—a future without CF,” says EE Co-Founder, Emily Kramer-Golinkoff.
The event is made possible by Presenting sponsor Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc., Amethyst sponsor Genentech, A Member of the Roche Group, Violet sponsors Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, The Points Guy, Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Viatris, along with many others.
EE was founded in 2011 by Emily, her family and friends as they decided to take action into their own hands to find breakthroughs and a cure for those with nonsense mutations of CF, a fatal genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. Nonsense mutations, while rare among those with CF, are the cause of approximately 12% of all genetic diseases, affecting roughly 30 million people around the world. The impact of EE’s revolutionary research and drug development has the potential to extend far beyond the CF community to those with a wide variety of genetic diseases caused by nonsense mutations, including certain forms of muscular dystrophy, blood disorders and even some forms of cancer.
Funds raised through this year’s virtual event propel EE’s life-saving research to accelerate breakthroughs and a cure for CF. The event is free, but registration is required. For more information and to register and purchase sponsorships, please visit: www.emilysentourage.org/eeny.
