Lobs of Love: A ladies round robin doubles tournament to benefit Emily’s Entourage

On Tuesday, February 4th, we were delighted to cheer on 28 fabulous women as they demonstrated their best serves, forehands and backhands for a great cause. They participated in a round robin doubles tournament to raise funds for Emily’s Entourage at the Youth Legacy Tennis and Education Center. Not only were we thoroughly impressed with their agility and tennis moves, but we also were completely touched by their generosity.

After two rounds of play, a semi-final and championship match, our winners were announced. Congratulations to Annette Brennan and Diane Burton, our first ever Lobs of Love champions!

After the tournament was completed, the ladies enjoyed a well-deserved and delicious lunch from Brûlée Catering. While eating, they heard from Kenny Holdsman, the President of Legacy, as well as EE’s Lynne Savran and our very own Emily Kramer-Golinkoff. Emily provided general information about Cystic Fibrosis and described recent treatment advances. She also explained that looks can be deceiving; while she may appear healthy on the outside, her 37% lung function tells a different story. Emily shared the great progress and success that Emily’s Entourage has had in our short two years of existence, but also underscored the current urgency in our mission and invited all in attendance to join our Entourage to help us find a cure for CF.

The event also included a raffle for a pair of stunning diamond earrings and, after a suspenseful morning, Randy Lipkin was announced as the winner. Randy, we know you will wear them well!

Overall, the event raised over $15,000 to fund life-saving CF research! It truly was a fantastic day spent playing tennis, learning about Cystic Fibrosis, and expanding our Entourage. Thank you to all who participated and donated!
