Emily Receives $19,000 CFCareForward Scholarship!

Earlier this year, Abbott awarded Emily the “Thriving Graduate Student” scholarship through the CFCareForward Program! The $19,000 scholarship is given to a graduate student with Cystic Fibrosis to support his or her pursuit of higher education. The recipient is selected based on academic achievement, community service and artistic talent, as well as by votes accrued in a public voting session.

As part of the CFCareForward program, hundreds of candidates with Cystic Fibrosis are narrowed down to 40 finalists, each of whom receives a $2,500 scholarship. Of the finalists, one undergraduate and one graduate student are selected as the recipients of the $19,000 Thriving Undergraduate and Graduate Student scholarships.

Emily is currently in the last year of her Master of Bioethics program at the University of Pennsylvania. This scholarship covers the remainder of her tuition costs, significantly lessening the enormous financial burden of her graduate education.

As the recipient of the scholarship, Abbott filmed a video of Emily and her family.
