EExtraordinary Donors: Why I support Emily’s Entourage

Emily’s Entourage has the most generous, thoughtful and dedicated donors! To show our gratitude, we want to shine the spotlight on YOU, the incredible entourage members. In this blog series, called EExtraordinary Donors, we learn what drives our wonderful donors to support Emily’s Entourage and the fight to cure Cystic Fibrosis.

Meet EExtraordinary Donor, “Fern from Bala Cynwyd, PA.”

What’s your connection to Emily’s Entourage?
I have had the pleasure of working with Emily as a colleague in the Marketing Department at Penn Medicine. She amazes me on a regular basis with her intelligence, knowledge, expertise and wisdom in her field of interest, social media marketing and in her life. Emily is a great inspiration to me.

Why do you give to Emily’s Entourage?
Working closely with Emily, I observed how hard she works to stay healthy and what it takes for her to start and go about the “normal” activities of life. Emily has taught me about having perspective on life and not taking anything for granted. Each breath is a gift and the way in which she conducts her life is a great example of her dedication and commitment to the things she believes in. The love that she attracts based on the shining light that she projects is the reason I give. Emily is just one of so many young people affected by CF. We must all do our part to work toward a cure.

What impact do you hope your gift will have?
FUNDING FOR RESEARCH. Funds are dwindling in all areas of science. The only hope we have for curing CF as well as prolonging and providing quality of life for Emily and others like her is aligning the research to the clinical delivery of care. What happens on “the bench” in the lab is critically aligned to what happens at the bedside of the CF patient. We must fund the research and the brilliant researchers who are so close to finding a cure and treatments to prolong and enhance the quality of life for Emily and all CF patients.
